Back in the 1980’s Japanese trains were packed to the max, especially during the rush hours. People pushed up against you, leaving you with only enough room to breathe was the norm back then. Such crowded conditions created a fertile environment for gropers and perverts. I recall some of my high school girl students complaining about how their sailor uniform skirts had been soiled on the trains by masturbating perverts and even two cases in which their skirts had been cut!

The school at which I was teaching had a young light-brunette teacher who had come to Japan right out of high school. She was quite beautiful and very popular with the students. One day, she came to work looking quite irritated.

I greeted her and said, “You look pretty flustered. Is everything OK?”

She said, “Yes, it is now, but I had a pervert trying to feel me up on the train this morning.”

I pushed for more information asking, “What happened?”

She elaborated saying, “This idiot pressed up against my back and put his hand on my thigh. He started working his way up to my crotch when I grabbed his small package and dragged him out of the train. When I got him on the platform, I squeezed and dropped him. The bastard had tears in his eyes when I told him, “You’d better not do that to any woman – ever!” I don’t know if he heard me or understood my English because he was doubled up, but I sure felt better!”
