The TV showed video footage of Tokyoites going all the way to neighboring prefectures to play pinball or to shop and crowd the stores there. The now infamous photo of PM Abe reading a book, drinking coffee and relaxing with his dog. Siblings fighting with each other. People doing silly exercises and posting them on youtube. Talk shows rehashing information about Covid-19 filled with people spouting opinions restating what everyone already knows. All in all, a great way to waste time and go nowhere!

In 2020, there are MOOCs and online learning opportunities all over the place. Many of them are free and some of them offer certificates that can be useful in your vocation. By the end of this month I hope to have learned how to use and adjust a ventilator, analyze the movement and spread of Covid-19 and finish reviewing all of my notes from the virology classes I took six years ago. I also hope to have more vegetables planted.

If you aren’t engaged in an essential services profession that’s keeping you on the job, look around and take advantage of the free time Covid-19 is giving you!
