ABC vs CAB

If you’ve studied first aid, you probably know that ABC refers to Airway, Breathing and Circulation. The American Heart Association changed the order to CAB in 2010 in order to put circulation (CPR [cardiopulmonary resuscitation] and use of an AED) before attention to the airway and breathing.

The concept of “hands only CPR” has become the standard in first aid courses taught to the public.

However, EMTs and other medical professionals still use the ABC standard.

ABC vs CAB
