Billy Mitchell: Predictor of Pearl Harbor

(December 29, 1879 – February 19, 1936)

Billy Mitchell was a US Army General who is often given credit for starting the US Air Force.

Most people don’t know it, but he predicted the air attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese in a 324-page report in 1924. He failed to predict the strikes from aircraft carriers, though, and thought that the planes would be dispatched from islands in the Pacific.
